New BioShock Game Reportedly in Development
Many gamers would agree that BioShock from developer 2K Games was a very unique entry among all other first-person shooter game franchises. 2007 saw the debut of the first game, then BioShock 2 came in 2010 and BioShock Infinite released in 2013. So, it's been five years since the last game of the series was released but we bet many fans are more than ready for a new installment at any time. With that, we currently have news that a new BioShock title is currently in development.
All the titles from the original series took place into the underwater city of Rapture, which was meant to be a utopia for elites. People become addicted to a substance called ADAM that grants superhuman abilities but also slowly drives them insane. Little orphan girls called "Little Sisters" were used to harvest ADAM and they were protected by giant robot like sentries nicknamed "Big Daddies". Third game of the series, BioShock Infinite took the adventure to the vintage sky city of Columbia.
News editor Jason Schreier for video game website Kotaku was recently working on a story with developer Hangar 13 about Mafia III, when he came to know about this information. There is a secret neighboring studio Parkside, currently working on an unannounced project and it is a new BioShock game. Now, this has come to many fans as relief as many of them thought that their series has ended with the fall of developer Irrational Games.
Although CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick has assured in 2015 that it wouldn't mean the end for BioShock series and they will continue it in future, they have not done anything convincing till date to back that up. However, it looks like Take-Two is making good on their word by bringing a brand-new BioShock game teaming up with publisher 2K Games. Already sold more than 25 million units, this steampunk first-person shooter was also being considered for a movie adaptation but ultimately failed though.
Officially, 2K Games have yet to confirm the validity of this news and there has been no statement from their end yet. With the release of BioShock: The Collection featuring remastered edition of BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the series made it's comeback in 2016 but that was it. There was no more news from them ever since and the entirety of this franchise are put into ice. If they are truly bringing back the series, then we would love to see them explore some new location for their fictional paradise this time.
