The first teaser that came in 2016 and we got to know that actor Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) is going to be playing the role of protagonist in it.
Then at TGA 2016, another footage released where we saw film director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) and actor Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) both playing important roles to the story. A few months earlier, Emily O'Brien and Troy Baker has also joined the cast.

Apparently "Porter" and "Bridges" words from previously released clips and poster doesn't indicate to any organization but they in fact belong to the character Reedus is playing, who goes by the name Sam Porter Bridges.
This trailer has started with a cinematic opening, then we see a bit of gameplay with different camera angles and then it cuts back to story before switching back to actual playing sequence again. The blend between these moments is naturally meshed to perfection.

The gameplay moments suggests it involves a lot of climbing and scaling to canyons, jungles, mountains and rivers as the story progresses. Sam travels these unfriendly regions to make deliveries of boxes in backpacks, tight-wrapped dead bodies and what not.
While carrying a baby in a pod, he goes from one place to another because he can sense those mysterious shadow entities approaching that has taken over the world and can come back if they happen to eat him alive.

The female character played by French actress Léa Seydoux (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Spectre) who talks to Sam in the beginning, seems to have almost the same gift as Sam but maybe better and she seems to know a lot about what's going on than he does.
It appears that he can sense those creatures, whereas she is able to even see them. She offers him to work for her which he gently declines and then called him by his name before departing to his ultimate surprise.

New revelation regarding the threats of that world is likely to be race of extraterrestrials in form of some sort of shadow demons. These near-invisible floating entities causes to rain whenever they appear, which is called "Timefall" and whatever it touches, ages rapidly.
We previously saw that happening to Sam's colleagues in the last trailer before they were devoured. Though not visible, they do leave footprints on ground that resembles to a webbed foot of a giant frog.

The importance of silence in their presence is brought up by the new female lead once again and we think it hints us that stealth will be a very important aspect of the game. They often ignore sounds but do react to breathing for some unknown reason.
Also, whenever one of those beings touches someone or eats them, they die but some people have the ability to come back. So does Sam but when he does, it causes a massive nuclear-like explosion that leaves a massive crater.

We see Léa Seydoux's character eating little caterpillar-like creatures with human skin called cryptobiote that has a resistance against Timefall, who previously mentioned about sharing "DOOMS" like her.
This means, she can come back from dead as well with same side effects. The second female lead introduced near the end of the clip was actress Lindsay Wagner (Bionic Woman, Six Million Dollar Man), who reveals almost nothing about her role except a connection to Sam.
