Bill Rosemann, creative director of Marvel Games reveals that they are encouraging game developers to create original stories.
Marvel Video Games Will Focus on Original Storylines |
Since the beginning of Marvel Cinematic Universe with live-action Iron Man movie release back in 2008, Marvel Entertainment has always tried and carefully maintained all of their characters and cinematic stories stay tied to each other.
Whether it is a blockbuster superhero movie like The Avengers or super-hit series like Netflix's Daredevil, it's all connected. However, Marvel may not have that same outlook when it comes to develop new Marvel video game universe.
Marvel Games' creative director Bill Rosemann has recently talked about their gaming ventures at 2017 DICE Summit. He reveals that Marvel's Spider-Man or Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy won't be tied to any recent comic-book story.
In fact, these narratives will stand out to longtime-fans with their original plotlines and settings as developers are given the freedom of choosing elements from all of Marvel history to choose whatever suits best with their project at hand.
At least four confirmed projects are currently in works with Marvel Games including Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite and Square Enix's upcoming The Avengers game for now.
There might also be a few more on the pipeline that will eventually be revealed in coming years though. Hopefully, Marvel Entertainment will greenlit more projects in near future for fans and studios will unveil many epic, new adventures.
Rosemann reassures that, Marvel decided to follow this motto considering general audience for these games. However, production of these projects won't be rushed on developers to forcibly try and fit those stories to MCU movie timeline.
Marvel's Spider-Man has already started a conversation among fans following its official reveal last year. People who watched 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy film will also be able to relate to Telltale Series of game adaptations on release.
