Marvel's Spider-Man Becomes Fastest-Selling PS4 Game Ever
Marvel’s Spider-Man breaks record and dethrones God of War by becoming fastest-selling PS4 title ever.
Today's pop culture generation is largely dominated by superheroes whether they appear in comics, movies or even on TV series but very rarely as video games. That is because, studios are afraid to fail in delivering an honest to source adaptation and therefore having a poor reception.
Except for the Batman: Arkham series in the past, very few have succeeded both commercially and critically in this genre, until the recent release of PlayStation 4-exclusive title Marvel’s Spider-Man that has sold over 3.3 million copies within the first three days after launch while winning the hearts of critics as well.

The game has a retail price of $59.99 and 3.3 million copies literally translate to an estimated sum of $198 million, which clearly surpasses the opening weekend box office collection of $117 million by last year's Spider-Man: Homecoming movie.
The figure of game units sold also includes limited edition Spider-Man PS4 Pro Bundle sales but they didn't reveal how many units have they sold of this bundles. This definitely creates a history as it has even exceeded the sales of 2018's God of War.

Previously, there was many other iteration of the wall-crawling hero from New York, released over the platforms like Gameboy, PlayStation, Wii U and Xbox over the years. However, none came any closer to what developer Insomniac Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment brought to the table.
Even after their attempt to mildly reinvent the age-old legacy of Spidey to a modern day audience, gameplay, graphics and story of the game was heavily praised by all.

The very concept of Spider-Man was created by writer Stan Lee (Thor, X-Men) and artist Steve Ditko (Hawk and Dove, Legion of Super-Heroes) in 1962 for Marvel Comics as he first appeared on the pages of in Amazing Fantasy, issue #15.
Then almost twenty years after, Spider-Man makes his first appearance in video game on 1982 for Atari 2600 system, which was simply titled after the name of the hero and also was the very first video game that featured a character from Marvel.

Sony is heavily excited about this because, Marvel’s Spider-Man is a first-party video game title that has come out for weeks now and the overwhelmingly positive consumer feedback suggests that it will sell a ton more in the upcoming months.
Insomniac Games have finally did some justice to Spider-Man by putting him into a game that tells more than a story of superhero and shows it to the world why he is the amazing friendly neighborhood bug that everyone is so very fond of.
