During opening celebrations event at BlizzCon 2019, developer/publisher Blizzard Entertainment has announced upcoming Shadowlands expansion for massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft.
Despite being fastest-selling WoW expansion, Battle for Azeroth failed to keep up hype, probably because of recently launched WoW Classic but Blizzard plans on bringing more content update for their players anyway.

Sylvanas Windrunner walks up to Icecrown citadel to confront Lich King Bolvar Fordragon sitting on his Frozen Throne. Realizing her intent, the lord of Scourge led all of his forces after Banshee Queen who has broke free of his control.
Sylvanas successfully takes them all down and eventually brought Bolvar down on his knees before defeating him and break his Helm of Domination, opening a portal to realm of life and death to unleash its nightmarish horrors.

Battle for Azeroth allowed players a level cap of 120 that many could reach to but rather than going any further, WoW will be capping levels at 60 and everyone currently at max level will start their journey of Shadowlands from level 50.
This action is to ease up leveling process and make players feel rewarded for ongoing progress. Instead of going over all sorts of different content, you can simply play up Mists of Pandaria expansion as a newcomer and go to level 50.

Though a huge chunk of player community is busy playing WoW Classic mode these days, Blizzard is still keen to add more content update each year ever since it was released and has a considerable size of player base even this day.
Therefore, revelation of Shadowlands was nothing sort of a surprise as WoW has been dropping hints for its next expansion for some time. Ahead of BlizzCon 2019, a leak from Blizzard gear store has showed glimpse of new Lich King, Bolvar.

On top of upcoming gameplay overhaul, a new continent will come to play as well as NPC factions to join up. Realm of Death is not linked to physical plane like Kul Tiras or Zandalar from past expansions, so it may take a weird route.
Shadowlands has always been a part of World of Warcraft lore outside of physical universe from its very beginning as this is where players go after death but its dark realm has never been merged with Azeroth, up until now.

There is Tower of the Damned for class-specific challenges, which will play out in roguelike fashion. Now that Bolvar is dethroned, every race can have a Death Knight and Banshee Sylvanas may appear as a raid boss.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion is currently available to pre-order and is scheduled for a 2020 release window. Blizzard will have a zone restricted for new players only where they can learn the basics before entering world of Azeroth.
