Halo TV Series Casts Natascha McElhone as Cortana
Showtime has announced six new casts for upcoming live-action Halo TV series, including Cortana.
Following announcement of Halo Infinite back at E3 2018 press conference, 343 Industries and Microsoft Studios officially revealed a live-action TV series based on military sci-fi shooter video game franchise Halo on Showtime.
In April 2019, series protagonist Master Chief John-117 was cast and now, here comes more six new casting announcements including actor Natascha McElhone (Californication, Designated Survivor) playing Cortana and Dr. Catherine Halsey.

McElhone actually made her name thorough another show from same TV network and will be playing two prominent roles. She will primarily play as an advanced artificial intelligence construct named Cortana, a guide to John-117.
Her second role is of a female scientist Dr. Catherine Halsey, who has birthed both SPARTAN Program to create futuristic super soldiers and superior battlesuits, Mjolnir Powered Assault Armor that is used for tactical military combat.

Halsey's brain was used as a template to create Cortana and she would serve as an AI companion to Master Chief. According to recent press release from Showtime network, she will be a key the survival of human race on the show.
Actor Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo, Underground) joins on board in role of privateer Soren-066 and old friend of John-117. Veteran actor Shabana Azmi (Fire, Godmother) will be playing Admiral Margaret Parangosky of Naval Intelligence.

An extended cast list also adds actors Bentley Kalu (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Edge of Tomorrow), Kate Kennedy (A Midsummer Night's Dream, Handy) and Natasha Culzac (Cursed, Netflix's The Witcher) in role of three original Spartans.
This array of new cast members will join Canadian-American actor Pablo Schreiber (American Gods, Orange Is the New Black) and Yerin Ha for a 9-episode first Season of Halo TV series, which is being produced by developer 343 Industries.

Production is scheduled to begin this fall in Budapest with writer/producer Kyle Killen (Awake, Lone Star) serving as executive producer alongside British film director Steven Kane (The Closer, The Last Ship), joining as co-showrunner.
Pilot and a few other episodes for upcoming Halo TV series will be directed by Otto Bathurst (Black Mirror, Peaky Blinders). Showtime is looking forward to premiere the show on first quarter of 2021 but an official date is yet to be announced.
