Starring actor Tom Holland as young Nathan Drake, Uncharted movie gets a holiday 2020 release date.
Although video game movie genre has seen tough times in Hollywood for decades, films like Detective Pikachu and Rampage is bringing a wind of change, which helped live-action Uncharted movie adaptation to get back on road.
After bringing director Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, Black Mirror) and actor Tom Holland (Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming) on board, Sony Pictures have now announced a release date set for December 18, 2020.

Tom Holland will be starring in lead role playing as protagonist Nathan Drake and people are really excited to see his portrayal of the character. Serving as a prequel, the story will focus on young Drake meeting with Victor Sullivan.
Seeing how well audience have received his new version of Spider-Man, Sony immediately hired Tom for their project and originally, Holland was to work with director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel) but he left the project last year.

At D.I.C.E. Summit last year, Neil Druckmann, creative lead of developer studio Naughty Dog revealed that he visited Trachtenberg and talked to Levy regarding Uncharted and The Last of Us movies based on their video game franchise.
Picking up holiday 2020 release window gives Uncharted movie a rare benefit of not having to compete with any Star Wars or superhero movies from DC and Marvel but will pit against West Side Story remake by renowned director Steven Spielberg.
