Darksiders: Genesis Announced
THQ Nordic announces upcoming top-down action shooter and a spin-off title Darksiders: Genesis.
Most recent entry from Darksiders series was hack and slash action-adventure game Darksiders III from 2018. Today, developer Airship Syndicate and publisher THQ Nordic officially announced their upcoming title to be Darksiders: Genesis.
This top down role-playing game is headed for Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms with a release window of 2019. Genesis is a series spin-off title starring fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, Strife.

Although Strife has briefly appeared in Darksiders III, he was never given a proper introduction and the trailer above gives him a spectacular debut. He goes up against a demonic horde to challenge their leader while slinging his arsenal of firearms.
The Council has called him to thwart Lucifer from unleashing demons from Hell to save humankind from his demonic conspiracy. Together with War, he must hunt them down to restore balance through intense action.

In terms of gameplay or storyline, DG official footage gives away so little but Strife teaming up with his brother, War probably suggests for some co-op action feature and we will only be absolutely sure about that upon a gameplay trailer release.
Despite bearing similar resemblance to a typical real-time strategy title, be assured that Genesis is a top down action shooter and nothing else. Also, this is not Darksiders IV in any way and just a spin-off game set within Darksiders universe.

Like any other dungeon-crawler, players would experience combat, exploration, epic boss battles, puzzle-solving and more. Airship Syndicate development team will be launching an enhanced version for Xbox One X as well.
THQ Nordic to do some showcase of Darksiders: Genesis at E3 2019 next week and will probably reveal more gameplay. Priced $39.99 only, the game is already up for pre-order and according to its Amazon listing; it will arrive on December 31, 2019.
