Mortal Kombat 11 Review-Bombed on Metacritic

Because of SJW propaganda and micro-transactions system, Mortal Kombat 11 is review-bombed on Metacritic.

On April 23, developer NetherRealm Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has launched newest 2.5D fighting game Mortal Kombat 11 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

Though MK11 could perhaps be the best Mortal Kombat game yet in terms of gameplay and storyline, it has recently become a victim of review-bombing on popular review aggregator site Metacritic and digital distribution platform Steam.

It might make people wonder, what could possibly be reason for a game to get low ratings if it is actually good and there are two reasons for that; injecting social justice agenda in it and its in-game micro-transactions system.

Currently, MK11 is sitting at an awful user score of 3.1 on Metacritic as many disappointed players are either leaving 1 or 0, many stating their reasons as "SJW Propaganda" and "Political Agenda" due to Klassic Tower ENDING for Jax.

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR MORTAL KOMBAT 11.

After defeating main antagonist Kronika, Keeper of Time, Jackson Briggs uses power of her Hourglass to travel back in time to end slavery forever. Despite being a non-canon ending, it has managed to piss off many gamers as it seemed forced propaganda.

Being a military man who prefers order, Jax could have wished for permanent safety for Earthrealm or could have gotten back with his family but since he is an African American hero, NetherRealm decided to make him save his race from oppression.

Another complaint fans were pretty vocal about before launch was covering up body parts of women fighters for sake of political correctness, whereas leaving most male characters like Kano, Kotal Kahn, Liu Kang and Shao Kahn buck naked.

Then there is the infamous topic of micro-transactions and an excessive grind that gradually push players to it. Even reviewers who praised MK11 have mentioned how gameplay mechanics feels to decisively push you towards spending real-world money.

Addressing this particular issue, Mortal Kombat co-creator and game director Ed Boon took social media to announce an update to balance this grind-heavy system to unlock cosmetic items more easily for its customization features in Krypt mode.

NetherRealm and Warner Bros. may actually try something out to change Mortal Kombat 11 grind system but one way or another, calling it optional by keeping a hefty amount of game content behind Tower of Time and Krypt mode seems deceptive.
