Shenmue 3 Release Date
Ryo’s story will continue next year on August 2019, in action-adventure game Shenmue III from Deep Silver.
Game director Yu Suzuki had a plan to create franchise when he was making original Shenmue and even worked parts of Shenmue II. Both of these action-adventure titles failed commercially but after almost two decades later, they are being re-released as high-definition ports due to fan demand. The fate of Shenmue III seemed to be uncertain for a long time and now, finally we have a release date for the game, which is set for August 27, 2019 when it is going to release on PC and PlayStation 4.

Publisher Deep Silver also released a new trailer at GamesCom 2018 while revealing the release window for this upcoming game.

This third installment in Shenmue games sees the return of series protagonist Ryo Hazuki, who is still looking to uncover the truth behind his father’s death. As teen hero advances towards his goal, he is met by enemies that try to stop him and the boy uses his martial arts to knock them off. He then comes across a girl named Ling Shenhua, who forecasts him about his prophecy because apparently, her destiny is to lead Ryo to the path he desperately seeks and help him find it.

Suzuki initially started a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund his game from his company Ys Net during E3 2015 press conference and it managed to sum up $2 million in first eight hours, setting a record. The studio decided to launch the game in December 2017 but when failed, the game has been rescheduled and pushed to 2019. Since it has been delayed for too long, developers will now focus on to polish the game further to make it as good as possible and maintain standards for loyal fans.

Waiting another year for Shenmue III to launch seems like a bit of a stretch but in the mean time, you can enjoy newly re-released version of Shenmue and Shenmue II on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. If you are new to the series, you will understand shortly after playing those titles for some time that why people are still obsessed with the franchise so much.
