Days Gone Story Preview
Days Gone offers a glimpse of Deacon's life with his love Sarah and their unlikely romance before the apocalypse.
Although showing major traits of being a zombie-apocalypse focused game on the surface, upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive Days Gone from developer SIE Bend Studio and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment has a lot more to offer as a survival horror action-adventure game.
Primary premise of the game is of course of a global pandemic that wiped out a large number of humankind and it forced Deacon St. John to struggle in a ravaged world just like any other survivors out there but beside that, something else motivates him to go on.

Many people lost their relatives and loved ones during the spread of the deadly disease that turns people into feral cannibalistic creatures. Almost all the survivor has memories from that forgotten past and they move on carrying the burden.
Before everything went downhill, Deacon met a girl named Sarah Whitaker from Seattle and they fell in love, which eventually led them to tie the knot in a small church of Marion Forks with his long-time friend William "Boozer" Gray as the only witness.

With her unique charm and care, she has soften him up from a nomad biker into a loving husband, so much so that he left behind his longtime ties to Mongrel Motorcycle Club in a pursuit of living a new life together for as long as they could.
Two years have been passed since and Sarah is long gone, leaving John to go out as a bounty hunter with nothing but a photo of her to remember by. He goes to the same church on a rainy night briefly reliving those memories but only to be ambushed shortly.

It's really nice to see that Bend Studio has given their mercenary protagonist such a back-story with an emotional depth that makes players care for him and this will make fighting for survival in an apocalyptic landscape all more worthwhile for most people.
After long delays and waiting, Days Gone is finally launching on April 26, 2019, for PS4 and the game looks even better and more interesting with each video Sony drops about it. Set into an open world environment, the single player game promises at least 30 hours worth of playtime.
