Resident Evil 2 Remake Reveals HUNK & Tofu Bonus Modes
Fan-favorite 4th Survivor HUNK and The Tofu Survivor returns in bonus modes for upcoming Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Only two weeks ahead of the anticipated release of upcoming survival horror game Resident Evil 2 Remake, developer/publisher Capcom released a thirty minutes long "1-Shot" Demo to give a peak to eager fans of what is coming to them.
Of course, they received a huge number of great responses and it led to the developers showing off two additional playable characters HUNK and Tofu from the original survivor horror classic, something that was confirmed following the E3 2018 Reveal.

After rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield made it out of a zombie-infested Raccoon City with Sherry Birkin, there was an Umbrella secret operative named HUNK and his story was explored in the unlockable scenario "The Fourth Survivor".
Nicknamed "Grim Reaper", this special agent of Umbrella Security Service was the fourth person to survive the events of Raccoon City incident upon completing his mission to collect G-Virus sample from researcher William Birkin before escaping through a chopper.

Intended to test collision detection for RE2, secret character Tofu appeared in his own bonus minigame "The Tofu Survivor", a more challenging and parodied version of The Fourth Survivor but follows an exact same playthrough.
As a life-sized equivalent of a Tofu, the character wielded a combat knife and a few herbs in a non-canon story of it attempting to go through the same path HUNK followed. Unlike "The 4th Survivor", this one is the hardest mission within the title that was meant for experts.

In the previous incarnation, Tofu used to wear S.T.A.R.S. hat and had a pair of floating gloves holding the knife instead of hands but the remake version will either have the weapon float around or could also be physically attached to it.
The character also had a color change from off-white to a bloody red as a health level indicator for taking damage. Apparently, everyone's beloved bean curd will be taking visible physical damage where chunks of it would seem to have been bitten off.

For the RE2 Remake however, Capcom has yet to reveal whether or not these two bonus mode will be unlocked via the same method they used to in the 1998 original. Both minigames would have been unlocked after completing both Leon and Claire scenarios with an A ranking.
You can still place your pre-order for Resident Evil 2 Remake, which will be arriving for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 25, 2019. Also, players are welcome to take a test drive with the "1-Shot" Demo" up until January 31.
