People are so busy with the anticipation of upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 these days from first-person shooter Call of Duty series, they have stopped talking about one of the best-selling titles of 2017, Call of Duty: WWII. So, Activision and Sledgehammer Games decided to shake things up a little bit and so, they announced a limited-time community event titled "Days of Summer" with lots of brand-new content to keep you busy during summer time and try to cool off at the same time.

For those who like big things in small packages, there is a new map called Sandbox, where players will be inside of an actual sandbox, fighting as a green tiny toy soldier made of plastic. You get to explore in a beach area throughout huge sandcastles and find yourself in an environment, which is clearly unlike anything you have ever experienced in CoD: WWII. Those toy army men are available in green and gray color that actually makes everyone from a same team look indifferent.

As you are about to wander into the beach area, you will notice many props of summertime the development team has added for fun and then there is Captain Butcher. He's about to give you some trouble with his magnifying glass and will be burning the center of the map. So, you just cannot go out there and shoot around. Now, aside from combating your opponents in a sandy landscape between buckets, hose pipes and giant rubber duckie, you have to watch your back on your own.

Days of Summer event also brings back aerial dogfighting mode, which got updated and has new features in it now. A War Mode mission known as Operation Husky from the game's DLC Pack 2, where there was a final objective to complete and it was a dogfight. Previously, there were environmental obstacles that would not let you fly over the skies of Egyptian Pyramids or Crimean Mountains. However, they made it possible to fly above clouds with your zeppelins to rule the blue.

Three new summer-themed weapons, Ribeyrolles SMG, 3-Line sniper rifle and the Automaton are introduced as part of the timed event. Varieties of themed gears are rolled in to pack your arsenal as you join the battle. The event will end on August 28 and Sandbox map will come to PlayStation 4 first before PC and Xbox One. Instead of latching on to the serious tone of WWII, Days of Summer community event actually takes things easily and encourages players to be a little silly while they can.
