Popularizing a whole new genre of HD-2D games, 2018 role-playing game Octopath Traveler by developer/publisher Square Enix made its debut as Nintendo Switch-exclusive before launching on Google Stadia, PC and Xbox One consoles.

Despite releasing across majority of console systems from previous generation, it never arrived on Sony platforms so far. However, a rating has been spotted for PlayStation 4 and 5 version of Octopath Traveler on rating board of Taiwan.

A year after its sequel is launched on major platforms, original Octopath Traveler game is rated for PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles recently by Taiwan's Digital Game Rating Committee, probably hinting at an upcoming announcement soon.

Taiwanese rating board also rated long-awaited Xbox Series X/S version of Octopath Traveler II alongside its predecessor for Sony console. Earlier this week, eXputer reported that OT2 will be heading to Xbox Game Pass later this month.

During last year's Tokyo Game Show broadcast, Square Enix revealed plans to release its sequel for PC and Xbox consoles in early 2024. Octopath Traveler became unavailable for purchase on Nintendo eShop for a while, earlier this year.

Octopath Traveler ended up shipping over three million copies worldwide across Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC and Xbox One. A sequel, Octopath Traveler II got released in early 2023 on major platforms, except Xbox console family.
