Announcing a year ago, developer From Software and publisher Bandai Namco revealed a new gameplay trailer for long-anticipated Shadow of The Erdtree DLC expansion of 2023 action role- playing game Elden Ring for fans worldwide.
Despite selling over 23 million by February 2024, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki rejected any possibilities for a second DLC expansion. Nearly a month before its release, Elden Ring: Shadow of The Erdtree DLC gets a story trailer today.
From Software reveals plot premise of upcoming Shadow of The Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring in latest trailer.
In a typical Soulsborne-genre fashion, an ominous cinematic starts and a narrator explains why Miquella the Kind moved to a new land following a war unseen by Messmer the Impaler, which raged everything in sight amidst his tyranny.
Queen Marika the Eternal shows up during intro scene that talks about seduction and betrayal, possibly hinting at her affair with Radagon. She is seen collecting golden runes from corpses of Godskin enemies on a border of two worlds.
His army marches through a burning city with towering Wicker Man giants and knights in black among many other. They face some resistance from previously seen Lion Dancer only for them to be butchered by the red haired demi-god.
Other than being a primary antagonist for new DLC story, Messmer seemingly has a connection to original Elden Ring characters. After his self-imposed exile, followers of Miquella head to the Land of Shadow to defeat Messmer's forces.
Tarnished warriors will once again brave another adventure quest into a new land and fight off many atrocities. There is mention of a beginning and it could hint at Queen Marika forming her Golden Order ages ago before they disperse.
Elden Ring base game is required to play Shadow of The Erdtree DLC expansion, which is priced at $39.99 only. Available for pre-order in several editions, Elden Ring DLC is expected to release for PC and major consoles on June 21, 2024.
