Resident Evil 4 Remake Adds Free Mercenaries Mode
Capcom releases free Mercenaries mini-game mode DLC for players of Resident Evil 4 Remake with some micro-transactions.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Adds Free Mercenaries Mode |
In first two days of its global debut, 2023 action survival horror game Resident Evil 4 Remake by developer/publisher Capcom saw biggest series launch on Steam to date and sold over 3 million copies, leading their stock to hit all-time high.
Accompanied by a launch trailer, Capcom announced to include fan-favorite Mercenaries mode two weeks ago. Today, players can get their hands on free Mercenaries mini-game mode DLC to kill as many enemies as possible in a set time.
Nothing much has changed for Mercenaries mode for RE4 Remake in terms of gameplay or any other aspects. Players will begin each round as Leon S. Kennedy and armed with all his weapons to take down Ganado enemies for high score.
In a race against time, players should decide fast about which weapon to use against whom and keep track on your timer. Killing off Ganados using melee attacks and headshots or beating foes like Chainsaw Man gives you some extra time.
Try to grab green Time Orbs amidst fights and get some additional time to tackle more enemies or activate Mayhem Mode with yellow diamond-shaped icon, which increases your abilities and speed for a limited time to score extra points.
Of course, you can increase Mayhem Mode by acquiring more orbs and defeating enemies gets you more time. Mercenaries mode will start in Village of RE4 and you can unlock more contents as you continue to progress through in-game.
Activate Mayhem Mode Meter |
Other than Leon, players can also choose HUNK, Jack Krauser and Luis Serra for their abilities to add more tactical depth in Mercenaries. Each of them should be unlocked via gameplay and are not available as default characters from start.
Ahead of Mercenaries mode release, datamining files reveal that Ada Wong and Albert Wesker are also coming with a fourth stage. Moreover, Capcom may announce "Separate Ways DLC" to be launched at a later date, based on PC files.
Mercenaries Mode Upgrade Tickets Micro-Transactions |
Capcom has also introduced micro-transactions to digital stores for RE4, allowing players to buy upgrade tickets for weapons. Redeeming these tickets at Merchant's shop gets you an exclusive access to weapon upgrade without any labor.
Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold 4 million copies in just two weeks, according to latest report by Capcom. A newly released Title Update addresses several issues on PlayStation 4, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with other miscellaneous bug fixes.
