Scheduled for a May 2023 release, upcoming action-adventure game Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom by developer/publisher Nintendo will be first Nintendo Switch-exclusive that cost $69.99 only for a Standard Edition at release.
Still months away from release, Nintendo announced to reveal an extended gameplay of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom this week. In a new video, Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma breaks down various gameplay mechanics of BotW sequel.
Nintendo releases a 10-minute gameplay from Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom, showing Link's new abilities.
Latest gameplay footage opens up with Link is riding on a horse across lands of Hyrule, while up above are seen floating Sky Islands. As a large rock falls down from one of those islands, he runs toward it and eventually reaches to it shortly.
Using one of his new abilities Recall, he rewinds time and the rock starts going back to where it came from, carrying Link on it. He then uses a paraglider to get to a nearby island but there are lots of other ways for players to reach above.
Moving to a bigger rock, Link faces a new enemy called a Construct and he starts fighting it with a branch he found. Using another new ability Fuse, he takes a tree branch and attached that to a large rock, making a big makeshift hammer.
Link can utilize his Fusing abilities in several ways, by making long-range weapons like pitchfork on a long stick, merge a Puffshroom with his shield, use elemental ingredients or Keese Eyeball with an arrow to freeze and shoot out target.
Halting at a riverside, Link uses his Ultrahand ability to unite large objects like logs with a sticky substance, effectively making a raft. He then makes some change to its shape and attached two fans on it to power it and travel to other side.
Tears of the Kingdom previously showed Link piloting a flying machine and a wheeled vehicle in previous trailers, which are not readily available in-game and were actually crafted using Link's Ultrahand ability to showcase new mechanic.
Link's most unique ability, Ascend allows him to pass through ceilings and although it has some restrictions, he can use it almost anywhere. Even if he wants to get to the top of a large hill, he needs to find a cave in it and get to its hilltop.
Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom gameplay demo was relatively shorter than previous showcase for Splatoon 3 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Eager fans shouldn't worry about any delays since TotK has gone gold and arriving this May 12, 2023.
