During a first-ever Developer_Direct Showcase earlier, Microsoft highlighted few of their major Xbox-exclusive titles and promised to reveal more detail for upcoming action role-playing game Starfield from Bethesda Softworks very soon.
An official support site for Bethesda's anticipated RPG has reaffirmed their 2023 launch plans in early January. Although originally planned for first half of this year, Starfield has been moved to late Q3 2023 and a showcase is coming soon.
Bethesda released a launch date announcement trailer for Starfield with a brief message from game director.
Bethesda seemingly needs a little more time to polish and deliver you their newest IP in over 25 years. They are currently working on a Starfield Direct livestream to premier on June 11 and has a new launch date set for September 6, 2023.
Xbox Game Showcase will also be streamed on June 11 this year, just before a dedicated stream for Starfield. Both of these digital showcase events are likely to take place between E3 2023 and Summer Game Fest livestream shows in June.
Although a sudden delay is rather upsetting for fans, Starfield is coming months after both Final Fantasy XVI and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are launched but still right ahead of heavily packed release window of November.
Starfield was heavily inspired by games like Elder Scrolls, popular RPG by Bethesda, which has a silent protagonist working for Constellation. When it comes to exploration, it will have over 100 star system and more than thousand planets.
