Other than having a darker tone, upcoming action-adventure game Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from developer Insomniac Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment has yet to showcase its gameplay and story setting before release.
When fans feared for a delay last year, Insomniac reaffirmed their 2023 launch plans on Twitter and given a fall/autumn window. Although an official confirmation didn't came from Sony, new report suggests a September release for SM2.
In a fan-response on social media, Venom voice actor Tony Todd (Candyman, Night of the Living Dead) casually reveals that Spider-Man 2 is currently aiming at September launch and a massive publicity campaign is coming a month before.
Todd claims that commercials will start dropping in August, which makes sense for a September release window. He further added "Hold on to your … and hold breath! Gonna be necessary" as a possible tease to Spidey's adversary Venom.

Spider-Man 2 is everything fans love about the "first game and Spider-Man: Miles Morales" but more, serving as next big chapter. Insomniac is also developing a Wolverine game for PS5 and it takes place in same continuity as Spider-Man.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was confirmed for fall 2023 release by Insomniac Games last year, which puts it against Xbox-exclusive Starfield. Todd's words nevertheless suggest that Sony don't have a set window and can move the dates further.
