A prior leak on 4chan board has claimed earlier that upcoming fighting game Mortal Kombat 12 from developer NetherRealm Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Games will be a re-release of repackaged fighters from newest MK trilogy.
Earlier last year, series creator Ed Boon has teased at possible roster for Mortal Kombat 12 and hinted several fan-favorites to return soon. Today, MK12 has been officially confirmed by latest Warner Bros. earnings call for a 2023 launch.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has recently talked about sequel to Mortal Kombat 11 during a recent investor call. He also claims that both Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League are coming later this year.
Zaslav further reveals that Warner Bros. has some ambitious launch projections for next Mortal Kombat and new Suicide Squad game. One of these games already has a release date but MK12 has not been revealed ahead of 2023 launch.
NetherRealm Studios has remained relatively silent regarding next Mortal Kombat but Ed Boon kept teasing new characters for long. A while ago, known insider Jeff Grubb claimed that WB is focusing on MK12 over next Injustice release.
Mortal Kombat 11 was most recent series entry that came out in 2019 and added additional 12 characters to its expansive roster. NetherRealm later released "Aftermath" expansion pack and ends all content support just over a year ago.
