Alan Wake 2 is Playable Now |
Alongside multiple Control sequels in development, upcoming survival horror game Alan Wake II by developer Remedy Entertainment and publisher Epic Games is still planning to release this year but no release window was given so far.
Months after its official announcement at The Game Awards 2021 earlier, concept arts for Alan Wake sequel were revealed early last year. Remedy recently reveals a development update for Alan Wake 2 and it is in a playable state now.
In latest financial results, Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala claims that Alan Wake II is in full development phase. AW2 will soon have all of its content in place and is playable from start to finish as devs are moving onto polishing it.
Remedy considers Alan Wake to be a high-valued unique brand but Alan Wake Remastered has yet to generate royalties. Nevertheless, Virtala expects sales to grow near the release of sequel to Alan Wake by series fans and new players.
Meanwhile, Control 2 has moved to proof of-concept stage with their new service-based game Codename Condor. Dev team is working on core gameplay of Codename Vanguard and looking forward to launch Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes.
Alan Wake II will be a lot darker than its predecessor and will switch to survival horror genre, a first for Remedy. They are currently developing five AAA-games and have plans to launch a new game every year from now on, starting 2023.
