Wizards of the Coast Reportedly Cancelled Several Projects

Bringing classic tabletop experience to audience across various digital platforms, Wizards of the Coast announced a new, AAA Dungeons & Dragons currently game being under development at Invoke Studios using Unreal Engine 5 last year.

Helmed by a former Ubisoft veteran, upcoming big-budget D&D game was confirmed to attract new talents to join Invoke Studios dev team. However, a latest report claims that Wizards of the Coast have cancelled several ongoing projects.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Wizards are apparently scaling back their commitment to video games. Following announcement of Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance in 2019, WotC told fans to expect seven or eight games soon.

Wizards spokesperson reveals that they are still committed to use digital games but has made a few changes to their long-term goal and WotC want to focus on strategically aligned projects to develop their existing brands and engage fans.

Bloomberg claims that both Hidden Path and Otherside Entertainment were assigned on WotC projects. Hidden Path was working on a large-scale open-world D&D game and Otherside team was reportedly developing new immersive sim.

Wizards of the Coast's next major video game release will be fantasy role-playing game Baldur's Gate III in Dungeons and Dragons universe. BG3 is currently in Early Access phase on Steam and has a planned release window of August 2023.
