Due to COVID-19 being still somewhat prevalent in 2022, many scheduled releases were moved to next year and it looks like one of the biggest year in gaming with so many high-profile games are currently scheduled to arrive very soon.
As we are bidding farewell to 2022, every major studios are currently looking forward to launch long-awaited titles on confirmed platforms and looks like fans have already picked their biggest, most-anticipated releases set for next year.
10. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S)
With release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in 2019, a long-declining Star Wars franchise found a new hope and a follow-up sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is getting ready to fly off to a galaxy far, far away when Cal Kestis finally returns.
Set five years after events of first game, Cal has become a Jedi Knight and continues to fight for survival. Adapting a much darker tone than its predecessor, Jedi: Survivor will release across PC and newer-gen console on March 17, 2023.
9. Dead Space Remake (PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S)
Although original creator of Dead Space franchise has moved on with survival horror game The Callisto Protocol, a ground up remake of 2008 classic is what fans are currently looking forward to as it finally launches on January 27, 2023.
EA Motive Studio is bringing back same horrific encounters against dreaded monsters next year, with newly added features. Dead Space Remake will be skipping last-gen consoles and will head over to PC and current-gen console system.
8. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S)
It took a while for developer Rocksteady Studios to make a comeback following their successful run on Batman: Arkham series. Earlier, they announced working on a DC-project featuring Task Force X against the world's greatest heroes.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League sees iconic DC super-villains going up against Brainiac and brainwashed members of Justice League. It features a send-off to late Kevin Conroy as Batman, coming next year on PC, PS5 and Series X/S.
7. Street Fighter 6 (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S)
Going for a generational shift, upcoming fighting game Street Fighter 6 brings back many series legends and introduces new roster of fighters to become next-generation of world warriors like newcomer Luke Sullivan and several others.
SF6 by developer/publisher Capcom features customizable player character, single-player story and action-focused gameplay. Its art-style sees a tonal shift, battle systems heavily rely on Drive Gauge and controls are friendly to newbies.
6. Diablo IV (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S)
After a while, Blizzard Entertainment will be making a return to classic hack-and-slash franchise next year with Diablo IV. Dev team has adopted a dark tone of original game, progression from Diablo II and combat mechanic of Diablo III.
Player character belongs to Barbarian, Druid, Rogue, Necromancer or Sorceress class and must go up against forces of Lilith. Diablo IV won't be a mobile release as it launches on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X/S systems on June 6.
5. Resident Evil 4 Remake (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S)
Following two successful remake two classics and a new Resident Evil game, Capcom has set its sight on re-telling another fan-favorite title with Resident Evil 4 Remake, which pays respect to 2005 original and fully built from ground up.
RE4 Remake will see return of protagonist Leon S. Kennedy to rescue President's daughter from Los Iluminados cult. With graphical upgrade and new character models, RE4 arrives for PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, skipping Xbox One.
4. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (PlayStation 5)
Although much of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has not been revealed by Insomniac Games yet, both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be playable in upcoming PS5-exclusive sequel while villains like Kraven the Hunter and Venom team up.
Riding on success of 2018 entry, Insomniac is trying to up the ante with new threats and maybe an even larger New York map. Other than a fall 2023 launch window, Spider-Man 2 still doesn't have a definitive PlayStation 5 release date.
3. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Nintendo Switch)
A long-anticipated sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will see Link returning for another new adventure in upcoming Nintendo Switch-exclusive follow-up The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to arrive in mid-2023.
Nintendo didn't share a story premise of Breath of the Wild sequel but several unused concepts and plot elements are likely to be utilized. Link will be exploring an open-world Hyrule and skies above throughout his next adventure quest.
2. Final Fantasy XVI (PlayStation 5)
Years after last mainline entry, upcoming action role-playing game Final Fantasy XVI is ready to arrive next year as a beacon of hope for JRPG fans, taking dark fantasy-style approach for latest title in Square Enix's long-running franchise.
FFXVI takes place in the world of Valisthea, where peace between six fractions are broken with emergence of Blight and it sends Clive Rosfield on a revenge quest against dark Eikon, releasing as PlayStation 5-exclusive on June 22, 2023.
1. Starfield (PC and Xbox Series X/S)
Perhaps one of the biggest Xbox-exclusive of current generation, upcoming action role-playing game Starfield will be first new IP by Bethesda Game Studios in over twenty-five years, which is largely labeled as "Skyrim in space" by devs.
Starfield lets you choose a custom character to role-play and travel light years beyond our solar system with your own spaceship crew. Whether or not Bethesda is able to fulfill their promises, it is the most-anticipated release next year.
A number of other 2023 games that gamers are waiting to play are Alan Wake II, Armored Core VI, Crime Boss: Rockay City, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Lies of P, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Remnant II, Synduality, Stellar Blade and a couple more.
There are still a handful of anticipated games without a release window that players are hoping to get their hands on at some point next year including Avowed, Fable, Hades II, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Marvel's Wolverine and lots more.
