Initially suffering at launch due to a number of issues, 2020 action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 by developer/publisher CD Projekt Red has worked out majority of game breaking bugs as they rolled out numerous patches and updates.
CD Projekt Red already revealed a slate of upcoming projects including Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, a trilogy of Witcher games and a new IP. Moreover, CDPR will be launching a "Game of the Year Edition" for CP 2077 with Phantom Liberty DLC.
During a recent investor meeting, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski confirmed that fans can expect a Game of the Year Edition to release next year following arrival of Phantom Liberty, upcoming post-launch DLC expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.
Although no official release date has been given yet, Kicinski suggests it will arrive at some time in 2023. Whether or not Game of the Year Edition will be current-gen-exclusive or will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is still not revealed.
CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski made following statement regarding Game of the Year Edition of Cyberpunk 2077.
It's the natural order of things – it was the same with The Witcher, which after both expansions was finally released as a Game of the Year Edition and has been on the market that way ever since. The same can be expected in this case.
Since they are making Phantom Liberty DLC for new-gen consoles only, Cyberpunk 2077: GOTY Edition is likely to follow suit as well. Despite a buggy launch, CDPR worked hard to significantly improve its overall gameplay experience for all.
Cyberpunk 2077: Game of the Year Edition is a great idea for people to enjoy the game for first time, who were previously hesitant to get it. CD Projekt Red plans to begin working on a sequel when they finally wrap up fixing ongoing issues.
