Regardless of some crashes and having issues at launch, 2022 first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II by developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision made noteworthy improvements to overall gameplay and visual.
Launched earlier last month, sequel to 2019 Modern Warfare reboot receives a warm welcome from old-school franchise fans. Also, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II becomes fastest-selling game in franchise history within three days of release.
According to official reports, Modern Warfare II enjoyed the biggest launch in Call of Duty series history in less than a week after its debut. Activision has made over $800 million in sales since it came out across PC and all console platforms.
With latest sales milestone, MWII has surpassed previous five-day franchise sales record by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in 2011. Modern Warfare II also set record for total hours played as well as number of players for Call of Duty title.
Activision claims that MW sequel launch was the highest grossing entertainment opening of the year, exceeding combined worldwide box office openings of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Batman and Top Gun: Maverick.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was biggest PlayStation Store launch ever for a Call of Duty title, including day-one and pre-order sales. Activision plans to support MW II with two-year content cycle as first mainline Call of Duty series entry.
