Shipping around 6.5 million units worldwide in over a year, 2021 survival horror game Resident Evil Village by developer/publisher Capcom will release a Gold Edition later this year, which will also include Winters' Expansion pack of DLCs.

During recent Tokyo Game Show 2022 livestream, Capcom revealed new gameplay footage for upcoming Shadows of Rose DLC expansion, which will be launching next month and apparently conclude Winters family saga in RE franchise.

In a recent interview at TGS 2022, director Kento Kinoshita reveals that Capcom is making new Shadows of Rose story DLC to wrap up Winters family saga, possibly hinting at introducing new cast of characters for next Resident Evil game.

Taking place 16 years after the events of RE: Village base game, Shadows of Rose DLC story lets you play as Ethan Winters' daughter Rosemary Winters, who steps into the mysterious realm of "Megamycete" to uncover some dark secrets.

Kawata and Kinoshita also talked about newly added third-person mode for Village, which took similar efforts to create a new game. They wanted to make it stand up to Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake in terms of its third-person gameplay.

Winters' Expansion will also include new Mercenaries mode content other than a third-person mode, when it launches on October 28, 2022. Resident Evil Village is getting ported to Mac and will receive support for PlayStation VR2 soon.

Capcom introduced Winters family with Resident Evil 7 protagonist Ethan Winters and his wife Mia. These two have a daughter named Rose, who gets kidnapped in Resident Evil: Village only to grow up and fight alongside Chris Redfield.

Resident Evil 9 is reportedly in development since late 2018 and may not launch until 2024, yet Capcom refuses to share future plans. Series veterans like Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine may return to action for newest mainline RE entry.
