A few years back, there was a rumor regarding developer/publisher Rockstar Games developing a modern remaster of 2010 action-adventure game Red Dead Redemption for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, set for a Q2 2020 release.
Rockstar Games has reportedly scrapped RDR remaster after a disastrous launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition. Despite having no chances of a revival, voice actor for Red Dead Redemption would love to make a return.
Rob Weithoff is widely known in gaming community for providing motion capture performance and voice acting as John Marston, protagonist to original Red Dead Redemption and supporting character in its sequel Red Dead Redemption 2.
In a recent video interview, Weithoff talked with YouTuber Dan Allen Gaming and expressed his interest in returning in his role of John Marston once again if Rockstar Games is finally willing to develop a remake or remaster for current-gen.
Although he didn't hear anything from Rockstar just yet, Weithoff would love an opportunity to return for a possible RDR remaster. He spoke very positively about working with Rockstar as he hopes that RDR remake or remaster gets made.
He also commented on recent death of Red Dead Online, asking fans to be patient for now and see what Rockstar comes up with in future. Last month, RDR2 actor Roger Clark also shared his sympathy for a dedicated RDO fan-community.
Rockstar Games may not start working on remake of Red Dead Redemption anytime soon since they are focusing all efforts on Grand Theft Auto VI right now, which is why a planned remaster of Grand Theft Auto IV also got cancelled lately.
Red Dead Redemption originally debuted on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles but never re-released for other platforms. However, John Marston's adventure can be ported to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S by Rockstar at a later date.
