Assembling an iconic roster of characters from Warner Bros. properties, free-to-play crossover platform fighter MultiVersus by developer Player First Games has already started its Open Beta test after exiting Early Access phase last month.
Earlier this week, Season 1 launch of MultiVersus and arrival of new character Morty Smith got delayed indefinitely. Though dev team didn't reveal any reason for postponement, they will be busy working on its hit detection system lately.
Shortly after rolling out a new online-only update, MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh was asked by a player that whether Finn the Human will get nerfed soon since his moves seemingly breaks through opponents' defense too easily.
In a reply, Huynh assures that dev team will be taking a look at Finn but currently they are busy with hitbox and hurtbox system overhaul. A change to hit detection system could make it easy or hard for player to hit depending on changes.
Player First Games co-founder Tony Huynh announces an overhaul to MultiVersus hit detection system soon.
We’ll be looking at Finn in sections, we are working on a big overhaul of our hitbox/hurtbox system so don’t want too many moving parts

Hitboxes and hurtboxes are major elements of hit detection mechanic for any fighting game as they cover both range and space. Whenever a player attacks and goes beyond their opponent's hurtbox, it successfully registers a hit by enemy.
MultiVersus datamine reveals new characters like Marvin the Martian, Nubia and Raven will be joining its roster soon. Although details are scarce, Season 1 Battle Pass will have 50 tiers and it costs about 950 Gleamium, which is $9.99 only.
