MultiVersus Remains Unaffected by Discovery/Warner Bros. Merger |
An official announcement for merger of Discovery Inc and WarnerMedia was made earlier this year that lead to Warner Bros. Discovery becoming a standalone business to handle big media projects and expanding overall content library.
Shortly after free-to-play platform fighter MultiVersus indefinitely delaying its Season 1 launch earlier, player-community gets alarmed regarding future of the game but these concerns were quickly addressed by game director on Twitter.
In a recent social media post, MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh confirms that their game will remain unaffected by current Discovery/Warner Bros. merger over concerns by fans lately after unexpected cancellation of Batgirl movie.
Warner Bros. has also cancelled Scoob!: Holiday Haunt animated series and everyone became worried about other new projects. These are troubling signs of internal restructuring and fans are rightfully afraid for the fate of MultiVersus.
Tony Huynh promises that fans have nothing to worry about Discovery/Warner Bros. merger on Twitter lately.
For those wondering, we are unaffected by the Discovery/Warner Bros. merger. #MultiVersus

As these two companies begins merger, MultiVersus will be registered as one of their IPs since they use several characters from major movies and TV shows owned by Warner Bros. but these properties won't be an issue for dev team now.
Although this announcement is a bit reassuring to fans, previously found voice lines for Lord of the Rings character Gandalf were removed earlier this month, which may also be a decision of Tolkien estate and not internal developer team.
While delaying MultiVersus Season 1, upcoming new characters Morty Smith and Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty show were also postponed. Dataminers have discovered dialogue scripts for Marvin the Martian, Nubia as well as Raven.
MultiVersus players are largely worried because majority of its roster features characters from Cartoon Network, DC Comics or movies. However, Discovery/Warner Bros. merger is seemingly affecting upcoming films but no video game IPs.
