Within months after global launch, 2021 indie action-adventure game Kena: Bridge of Spirits by developer/publisher Ember Lab became one of the most-downloaded PlayStation game of last year across Europe and North America region.
Ahead of its first birthday, Ember Lab announced a free Anniversary update for Kena: Bridge of Spirits in celebration of one year. Moreover, a Steam version will be launched on Valve's digital distribution platform on September 27, 2022.
Anniversary update will be adding a bunch of free new content including New Game Plus mode, Charmstones, Spirit Guide Trials and more. Players can convert their save file into a New Game+ game once they finish playing the base game.
Kena will begin a new journey with all of her previously unlocked abilities, outfit, Rot, upgrades to face even more challenging scenarios. NG+ will feature new enemy types and adjustments to combat sequences like additional boss phases.
A big addition to game is Charmstones, unique items that offers variations to Kena's ability and stats. These collectibles can grant you various perks or even bring some drawback, which forces you to strategize better for enemy encounters.
There are rare cursed Charmstones that can reduce your abilities and make things a little more challenging. These items are mostly hidden throughout in-game world and some are scattered within next biggest surprise; Spirit Guide Trials.
Players can access this mode from Mask Shrine and create various replayable challenges to test their skills. You will also unlock a lot of colorful outfits for Kena by completing Spirit Guide Trials and find some unique Charmstones as reward.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits was launched on PC platform via Epic Games Store as timed exclusive for a year and is finally heading to Steam. Although pre-order is not yet available, players can add it to their wishlist to be notified in coming weeks.
