Back in 2020, a playable alpha build was leaked online and recent report suggests that a sequel to Dead Island will re-reveal shortly. More recently, Dead Island 2 release date and screenshots have apparently been leaked via Amazon listing.

According to leaked product description, Dead Island sequel takes place in locations nearby Los Angeles, where a zombie outbreak occurs. Fans can expect gory first-person experience, with a lot of weapon choices for intense combat action.
Dead Island 2 may have big focus on co-operative play but neither Dambuster Studios nor Deep Silver has confirmed such rumors yet. Previously, parent company Embracer Group suggested a release in current fiscal year, before March 2023.
