Red Dead Online Won't Be Getting New Content as Rockstar Focuses on GTA VI

Following next-gen release of 2013 action-adventure game Grand Theft Auto V earlier this year, developer/publisher Rockstar Games saw a surge of players joining its online multiplayer mode Grand Theft Auto Online across all platforms.

Despite many calls for support on social media, Rockstar has been frequently ignoring Red Dead Online player-community for a while and now they have finally admitted to reduce new content updates as they focus on Grand Theft Auto 6.

Through an update on official Newswire website, Rockstar confirms to release no major content updates for Red Dead Online any longer and will dedicate more of their development resources and focus towards highly-anticipated GTA VI.

Rockstar wants to exceed players' expectations for newest entry in Grand Theft Auto series and therefore, they are making some changes to Red Dead Online by adding new Telegram Missions and improving upon its existing game modes.

Players can also return to variety of activities like story-based co-operative missions, Showdown Modes, Specialist Roles and much more. Other than content rotation promises, Rockstar Games remains largely vague about their future plan.

Red Dead Online had a slow start compared to GTA Online with a beta in December 2018 and it started receiving updates in coming months. Rockstar slowly became less frequent with content as they moved focus and fans begin to protest.

A known insider claims that Rockstar has reportedly cancelled remasters of Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption because of a very poor fan-reaction to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition following a failed release.

Grand Theft Auto VI was officially confirmed being in development by Rockstar Games earlier in February 2022 after years of rumors. An industry analyst previously suggested GTA VI to feature four cities and around 500 hours of playtime.
