In celebration for 10th anniversary of 2012 hack-and-slash game Lollipop Chainsaw last month, game director Suda51 and filmmaker/writer James Gunn shared memories of working together ahead of announcement for a 2023 remake.
Due to their previous collaboration on 2012 original, many fans thought that they are reuniting for its modern-day remake by developer Dragami Games but James Gunn and Suda51 recently clarified about their involvement to the title.
In a latest post on social media, James Gunn confirms neither him nor Suda51 are involved with newest remake project. They allegedly didn't even know about its existence before its reveal a few weeks ago and none of them will return.
Gunn later followed up saying he neither endorses nor condemns upcoming remake of Lollipop Chainsaw by Dragami Games. He only took social media to clear up any confusion regarding his involvement to this project among fan-base.
James Gunn and Suda51 took Twitter to clarify their involvement regarding Lollipop Chainsaw Remake 2023.
I neither endorse nor condemn it! I simply don’t know anything about it. But as articles are starting to slap our names on there, I think it’s important to make clear no one ever approached us about it. https://t.co/yPOT76AeWp

Dragami Games was formed by development staff who originally worked on Lollipop Chainsaw and has purchased its IP rights. Former executive producer Yoshimi Yasuda returns to helm this project and has announced it only a day ago.
Lollipop Chainsaw Remake is expected to release next year, most probably for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Dev team will be targeting more realistic graphics but a couple of licensed songs will be changed due to licensing issues.
