In last several years, there has been no shortage of rumors regarding upcoming highly-awaited crime action-adventure game Grand Theft Auto VI by developer/publisher Rockstar Games and whatever surprise it holds for many series fans.
Earlier last year, industry insider Tom Henderson claimed that next GTA game will be featuring a female protagonist. A new Bloomberg report seemingly corroborates to that statement while suggesting a possible location set in Miami City.
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, next entry in GTA franchise will have a female protagonist for the first time in series history. She is a Latina woman and will be one of the lead characters much like robbers Bonnie and Clyde.
Grand Theft Auto 6 was originally code-named "Project Americas" that would cover large areas of North and South America. However, Rockstar eventually cut down GTA 6 main map only to a fictional version of Miami and surrounding area.
An insider previously reported that GTA VI will expand across four cities and feature more than 500 hours of gameplay. They also claimed that Rockstar was working on it since 2014 and latest Bloomberg report also confirms that projection.
Rockstar Games currently plans to update the game with new cities and mission over time and avoid crunch ahead of release. Nevertheless, GTA VI will have a large in-game world with more interior locations than any previous GTA games.
In recent years, Rockstar has become more sensitive towards their stuffs and made big changes after major cultural overhaul. Following departure of former Rockstar head Dan Houser, GTA VI will feel very different than Grand Theft Auto V.
Grand Theft Auto VI has yet to be revealed by Rockstar Games but a recent Take-Two financial guidance hints at March 2024 release window. To focus solely on next GTA game, Rockstar has halted development for many ongoing projects.
