Fallout 5 Won't Arrive Before Starfield or The Elder Scrolls 6

While almost everyone is busy discussing newly revealed gameplay trailer for upcoming action role-playing game Starfield during Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022 stream, some were inquiring about Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.

Fans have long been wondering when developer/publisher Bethesda Studios will share updates on popular RPG series and it was revealed that Fallout 5 will be their next game after The Elder Scrolls 6, which will follow-up after Starfield.

In a recent interview, Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard confirms to begin working on Fallout 5 after The Elder Scrolls 6 release, which is currently in pre-production stage and will start development following Starfield launch.

Howard pointed out that their slate is pretty full as they move forward in near future and have projects that they look at time to time. He previously revealed that there is an idea for Fallout 5 but people shouldn't expect it for few years.

Fallout is essential to DNA of Bethesda Game Studios and they even worked with other studios in past but he can't say anything right now. May be he is indirectly teasing at a potential sequel to Fallout: New Vegas by Obsidian dev team.

He says that Bethesda only have a brief idea on Fallout 5 about what they want to do but it will definitely be realized once TES 6 is finished. Since it took more than seven years for Starfield to complete, Fallout 5 may take years to reveal.

Given how The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim came out in 2011 and its sequel is still in pre-production, it may take years to see its first-look. Bethesda pushed back The Elder Scrolls VI since dev team wanted to wrap up working on Starfield first.

Fallout 4 was last mainline entry released back in 2015, followed by a series prequel Fallout 76. A teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI was revealed in 2018 and although no release window is confirmed yet, it could be an Xbox-exclusive.
