The Last of Us Remake Will Reportedly Have Factions Mode

For past couple of years, developer Naughty Dog have been working on PlayStation 5-exclusive remake of 2013 action-adventure survival horror game The Last of Us shortly after wrapping up The Last of Us Part II for PlayStation 4 in 2020.

Earlier last week, a Naughty Dog QA tester has accidentally teased upcoming TLoU PS5 remake project his on LinkedIn profile. Moreover, a recent rumor suggests The Last of Us Remake may release with a new Factions multiplayer mode.

Michael Huber of Easy Allies website has claimed that The Last of Us Remake will have a brand- new Factions multiplayer mode. He also added that it could be free for all but may offer variety of bonus items for owners of new PS5 remake.

Previously, a few reports suggested Factions being a standalone game and therefore, a free-to- play multiplayer mode makes sense. Although none of these claims sound too outlandish, they are yet to be confirmed by any official source.

Naughty Dog may end up releasing The Last of Us Remake and standalone Factions multiplayer on PS5 at the same time. So, it would make sense for publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment to somehow connect these two up for players.

Fans are wondering when Naughty Dog and Sony will start talking about these newest projects or whether they are releasing soon. If long-rumored The Last of Us Remake for PlayStation 5 is shipped this year, it will be a major re-release.

Naughty Dog originally had plans to release a new multiplayer mode alongside The Last of Us 2 but was delayed to focus on story campaign. Factions allowed TLoU players to take part across three multiplayer game modes and objectives.

The Last of Us Remake rumors have surfaced online in April 2021, after a Bloomberg report by Jason Schreier about an internal shake-up at PlayStation Studios and Visual Arts Service Group working on TLoU project before Naughty Dog.
