Although a continuation of protagonist Ryo Hazuki's story was hinted in 2019 action-adventure game Shenmue III by developer Ys Net and publisher Deep Silver, there have been no indicators for a follow-up sequel to be in development.
After having a Kickstarter controversy due to Epic Games Store-exclusivity, chances of a fourth game is pretty slim. However, fans recently begin to speculate that Shenmue IV may become a reality after social media tease by a publisher.
Switzerland-based AAA-video game publisher 110 Industries have hosted a showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2021 lately, where Shenmue series creator Yu Suzuki made an appearance despite having no prior connection with the company.
Though there wasn't much of a discussion going on regarding this unlikely collaboration at TGS 2021, a latest fan-response to 110 Industries on Instagram suggests that they possibly signed a publishing deal with Yu Suzuki for Shenmue IV.
When official Instagram account responded with "Guess why he was at our TGS stream", it was shared by Shenmue Dojo fan-account on Twitter and 110 Industries replied after a while saying "No comment", which is weird to say the least.
Shenmue begins a quest of vengeance for Ryo Hazuki, releasing in 1999 for Dreamcast console and was followed by Shenmue II in 2001. It took almost two decades for Shenmue III to release for PC and PlayStation 4 after some fan-fiasco.

With a long-awaited Shenmue the Animation premiering on Adult Swim and Crunchyroll earlier, Shenmue IP can still continue its legacy with a new publisher other than Sega or Deep Silver, for a new game that could be announced later on.
Shenmue IV is still possible whether they sign a publishing agreement with 110 Industries or Yu Suzuki can talk to Epic Games for funding. With a proper budget and steady development plans, Shenmue 4 can eventually come out very soon.
