After wrapping up Dark Souls III, series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki teamed up with renowned fantasy author George R.R. Martin (A Game of Thrones, Windhaven) to conceive overarching world-building for his next project, Elden Ring.
Like previous Souls-like games, 2022 action role-playing game Elden Ring by developer From Software and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has lots of Easter eggs hidden in-game and a handful of them refers to writer himself.
Elden Ring takes place on a fantasy setting of Lands Between and similar to other Soulsborne titles, it has many secrets buried behind dialogues, item descriptions and side quests players discover during their journey within the realm.
When creating lore for From Software's latest adventure, George R.R. Martin named all key-character, gods and demigods such as Godfrey, Radagon, Rennala and Marika, using Martin's name initials that eventually spell out G.R.R.M.
Elden Lord Godfrey and Queen Marika named their children as Godwyn, Mogh and Morgott. Radagon of the Golden Order and Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon continued their progeny using "R" for Radahn, Ranni, Rykard and Renna.
Marika and Radagon's union have birthed Empyrean twins Malenia and Miquella; goddess of scarlet rot and her forever young brother. Then there is Godfrey and Marika's outcast blood and Stormveil Castle ruler Godrick, the Grafted.
George R.R. Martin hid out lots of in-game details within story but his G.R.R.M. name initials were pretty much out in the open. Nevertheless, it took time for someone to point them out and probably, there are many other hidden still.
Earlier last month, Elden Ring was released across major gaming platforms and sees big sales numbers throughout the globe. Bandai Namco didn't share any official sales figure but report claims it to be a best-selling game of 2022 in US.
