During ongoing development of a sequel last year, developer/publisher Techland confirmed working on a next-gen patch for first Dying Light game after an ESRB rating for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version surfaced online.
After global release of Dying Light 2: Stay Human last month, Techland could finally focus on new generation console versions of original Dying Light and released a free next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5, also arriving on Xbox soon.
Dying Light next-gen patch comes with three new video modes, offering you high frame rate and resolution. PS5 players can experience 60 FPS gameplay in full HD (1080p) resolution via Performance mode with improved load time.
When playing in Balanced mode, PS5 will target for 60 FPS in QHD (1440) resolution and High Resolution mode gets you 30 FPS in 4K. Players who didn't receive upgrade yet can still enjoy improved 30 FPS cap across PlayStation 4 Pro.
PS4 Pro console owners can also experience new networking improvement, courtesy of EOS solution. PS5 players will have a 25% increased viewing distance in-game, aside from recently added graphical advancements and features.
Dying Light: Platinum Edition was launched last year, which includes 2015 original base game and all of its DLC in a single package. A follow-up sequel, Dying Light 2: Stay Human came out earlier last month for PC and major consoles.
