Mario Kart 9 May Reportedly Reveal at Upcoming Nintendo Direct

Through second quarter financial results for ongoing fiscal year, Japanese developer/publisher company Nintendo, 2014 kart racing game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe reportedly became best-selling game in series history, selling 38.74 million units.

Earlier last month, analyst Dr. Serkan Toto reported that Mario Kart 9 is currently under active development and lately, another reputable leaker claims new Mario Kart game will be revealed during a Nintendo Direct show later this month.

In a recent blog post, known industry insider Zippo suggests that Nintendo will be hosting their first Nintendo Direct broadcast of this year soon, maybe even soon as next week and next entry in Mario Kart series is likely to be shown as well.

Nintendo has just wrapped up their financial briefings and therefore, a Direct presentation will not be happening this week. Within next few weeks, you can expect it to arrive and several big announcements will be made for variety of titles.

Nintendo Direct showcase for September 2021 offered a better look at Bayonetta 3 and Kirby: Forgotten Land. In February, Advance Wars 1+2, a new Fire Emblem title, Splatoon 3 and long-rumored Xenoblade 3 will be taking center stage.

Previously, Zippo also stated that Mario Kart 9 will be a crossover game that features a number of guest characters ARMS, Pikmin and Star Fox. Nintendo is likely to include alternate costumes, single-player content and more tracks than ever.

According to Nintendo's recent financial report, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold 43.35 million copies on Nintendo Switch and continues to sell well. So, they won't be rushing for a sequel anytime soon as long as MK8 Deluxe makes them money.

Despite being backed by reputable industry insiders, it would be wise for people to take Mario Kart 9 rumors with a grain of salt. Whether or not Zippo's sources are accurate, Nintendo has a lot of release windows already lined up for 2022.
