Originally revealed as a PlayStation 5 launch title, upcoming action role-playing game Horizon Forbidden West by developer Guerrilla Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment is currently set to launch on February 18, 2022.
Forbidden West is a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn (2017), which debuted on PlayStation 4 and came out for PC later. Guerrilla Games and Sony recently announces that Horizon has sold over 20 million copies across all platforms globally.
In a latest Twitter post, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst reveals Zero Dawn has officially crossed a sales milestone of 20 million units across PC and PS4 as of November 28, 2021, while spending more than 1 billion hours in-game.
Horizon has sold more than 10 million copies back in 2019 and it has doubled since Complete Edition was released for PC and PS4, thus making it one of the best-selling PlayStation games ever like God of War (2018) and Uncharted 4.
Ahead of Horizon Forbidden West release next week, a cinematic trailer is revealed to hype up series fans.
Earlier last month, Sony unveiled next-gen PlayStation VR2 headset and its first game Horizon: Call of the Mountain. It will be an original game by Guerrilla Games in partnership with newly-acquired UK-based developer studio Firesprite.
Horizon Forbidden West will see a cross-platform release for Sony consoles and PlayStation 4 version owners will get free PS5 upgrade. A handful of accessibility options like co-pilot system and custom difficulty mode are also included.
