Dead Island 2 May Reportedly Release in 2022 |
Over a decade ago, 2011 survival horror game Dead Island by developer Techland has debuted across PC and seventh generation of consoles, followed by a standalone expansion Dead Island: Riptide and a sequel is announced back in 2014.
In subsequent years, Dead Island 2 saw a number of delays due to internal development issues and is still in works now. Though there is no launch window in sight, an insider recently claimed that Dead Island sequel maybe arriving this year.
Dead Island 2 is reportedly in a pretty good state and may even be released soon, according to known industry insider Tom Henderson. Though currently scheduled to fourth quarter of 2022, development issues could lead to further delays.
Henderson also talks about an alleged plot of Dead Island 2, taking player character on board of a passenger plane heading to California. After a sudden zombie outbreak mid-air, you survive a horde of zombies before crashing on Hollywood.
Earlier in June 2020, a playable build of Dead Island 2 was leaked online and players were able to explore the unfinished version. Yager Development was originally assigned to a sequel but it was cancelled later when Sumo Digital took over.
Dead Island 2 is in works at Dambuster Studios, following a troubled and lengthy development cycle that started in 2012. Tom Henderson suggests an official announcement is coming shortly including a revised glimpse at gameplay footage.
