A surprise announcement for 2018 action-adventure game God of War from developer Santa Monica Studio and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment getting a PC version received a somewhat mixed reactions from fans earlier.
Earlier last week, God of War (2018) launched on PC via Epic Games Store and Steam with big sales figures. It has quickly become Sony's biggest PC launch by surpassing player numbers of Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone at release.
According to SteamDB website, God of War (2018) reached a peak concurrent count of 73,529 players only a day after PC launch. It even became best-selling game on Steam globally, leaving behind a newly released Monster Hunter Rise.
God of War (2018) launch week numbers on Steam has topped other Sony first-party PC titles like Horizon Zero Dawn, which had an all-time peak of 56,557 players and Days Gone managed to reach 27,450 players following 2021 release.
These stats are from Steam only and they do not include Epic Games Store sales numbers for God of War (2018) on PC. Later this year, Sony is planning to launch Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy for PC as well.
God of War director Cory Barlog recently revealed that a few other studios pushed PlayStation to bring their games on PC. Meanwhile, Santa Monica Studio is currently planning to release its sequel God of War: Ragnarök on Sony console.
