An early report last year has claimed that next entry in Call of Duty annual shooter franchise will be a reboot of original Modern Warfare sequel titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and a new rumor says, it will bring back classic MW2 maps.
After exploring Cold War and World War II settings in recent years, publisher Activision returns to a modern battlefield this year and looks, like Call of Duty 2022 may release early, in October 2022 due to poor sales of Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Call of Duty 2022 could be revealed this summer and even release earlier than usual, according to industry insider Tom Henderson. Also, Activision may release Modern Warfare II in October instead of a November release window this year.
Activision is reportedly working on a major update for Call of Duty: Warzone as well, which will arrive after Call of Duty 2022 launch. However, there is no confirmation on whether players are getting another Warzone map or something else.
Tom Henderson shares latest Call of Duty 2022 report and teases a "big" update for Warzone on Twitter.
As expected, it's looking like this year's Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare II (2022), will be revealed in the summer.

A November release window always worked for Call of Duty as it comes out on Black Friday to rule over holiday season. Activision is likely to release next series title early to possibly win back players disappointed with Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Call of Duty franchise titles typically releases in early November every year and for around two decades, only moved to October a few times. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Modern Warfare are two most prominent entries released in October.
A lot of players in Call of Duty community are currently frustrated with latest release regarding bugs, glitches and performance issues. Activision is apparently bringing Infinity Ward back for damage control with return to Modern Warfare.
Call of Duty 2022 rumors begin even before Call of Duty: Vanguard release but it has yet to be revealed by Activision or developer Infinity Ward. If reports are accurate, Activision is changing strategies after disappointing sales for Vanguard.
