FFXIV Director Apologizes for Endwalker Login Issues, Offers Free Week |
Earlier this year, developer/publisher Square Enix announced upcoming fourth expansion pack for massively multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV titled "Endwalker", which was scheduled for a summer release window.
Although there is still some time for Endwalker DLC to officially release, Early Access players try to join in ahead of everyone, leading to a sudden increase of players-count across all platforms and it starts causing login issues for everyone.
Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida recently apologized to fans in a blog post explaining how their servers hit limits earlier. A massive surge of FFXIV players trying to logging in simultaneously made it difficult to connect.
Because of all Worlds across all regions are hitting limits for player login since long, progression of queues are getting slowed as well. Due to sheer number of concurrent logins, hardware limit was maxed out and people had to wait longer.
Yoshida has expressed his regret for such inconvenience and offers a week of free game time to anyone who owns full version of Final Fantasy XIV and an active subscription during Endwalker expansion official launch at December 7, 2021.
FFXIV free week offer further expands to players who joined 30-day free trial period when they get full version and for multiple accounts. Moreover, Square Enix may extend free game time if overcrowding leads to further interrupt queue.
Yoshida was seemingly upset last month when FFXIV: Endwalker had to be delayed for another two weeks. He explained that dev team had to move from November 23 to December 7, 2021, to make some final adjustments before launch.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker marks the largest expansion pack for Final Fantasy 14 till date and concludes ongoing story arc. Naoki Yoshida ended his statement by revealing recent peak hours for login to avoid any crowding at data centers.
