Announced back in E3 2017, upcoming first-person action-adventure title Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch console was being developed by Bandai Namco Studios before being scrapped and replaced by Retro Studios a year ago.
Although there have been no official words from Nintendo or Retro Studios since 2019, a latest pre-order update from online retail website Amazon to customers reportedly hints at a possible 2023 launch window for Metroid Prime 4.
Those who managed to pre-order a copy of Metroid Prime 4 on Amazon earlier has received an update regarding an expected delivery date of January 2, 2023, which one of those customers shared a screenshot of on social media lately.
Amazon has previously leaked exclusive console bundles and release date for major upcoming titles though accidental listing. Although it may seem like they are just trying to give a heads up to buyers, their given date is awfully specific.
One lucky purchaser has shown receipts from Amazon about an estimated release date of MP4 on Twitter.
Woohoo! Looks like Amazon just sent me an update for my Metroid Prime 4 pre-order I made on June 14, 2017.

Despite remaining silent on Metroid Prime 4 development progress, Nintendo recently acquired some known industry veterans for Retro Studios including former God of War developer, Grand Theft Auto producer and Warhawk director.
Nintendo is not likely to slip up release information of a hotly-anticipated title and one of their known IPs for Switch handgeld and therefore, fans should take this leaked launch window with a grain of salt until an official statement is out.
