It has been only a day since 2021 first-person shooter Far Cry 6 by developer/publisher Ubisoft has been released for Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC platforms worldwide.
Although usually focused on story campaigns, future Far Cry franchise entries will rumoredly be heading to new directions and that Ubisoft has been planning to make Far Cry 7 lot more online multiplayer-focused, according to a latest report.
An unnamed source at gaming site Axios claims that Ubisoft will be heavily focusing over online functionality for next Far Cry game. Earlier in June, even Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier also hinted at a drastic, new direction for future titles.
Ahead of Far Cry 6 release, YouTuber JorRaptor has found a QR code during playthrough and it lead to a six-second video that allegedly is a tease by Ubisoft for a Far Cry multiplayer game set in Far Cry universe, to be launched in near future.
Although there is no player versus player multiplayer, Far Cry 6 story mode will allow you play it co-operatively. Previously, both Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 5 had some co-op gameplay features that are either limited or had some progression issues.
In recent years, Ubisoft has taken interest in adding online play and reveals plan to invest more into live services. Also, leaning to a multiplayer-focused approach doesn't necessarily mean an end to single-player adventures of Far Cry games.
