A long-awaited gameplay trailer and project update upcoming action-adventure hack and slash game Bayonetta 3 has been revealed by developer Platinum Games and publisher Nintendo at today's Nintendo Direct video presentation.
Latest gameplay footage brings back titular protagonist in action after long as she engaged in a fierce battle against Kaijus. Fans took notice of a brand-new element in recent trailer that game director Yusuke Miyata explained in details.
Following premiere of Bayonetta 3 gameplay, a new gameplay feature called "Demon Slave" is shown by Nintendo. It will let players to assume control of a demon and change entire direction of combat during a tense Kaiju-styled battle.
Depending on varying level of abilities of these demons, summons can change up any situations at any given time. However, Miyata refuses to delve further regarding their numbers or powers but advises everyone to re-watch the trailer.
Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata has shared a few detail of newly introduced "Demon Slave" ability lately.
Unlike the Climax Summons of previous games that automatically defeated enemies and returned to Inferno, this mechanic lets players control demons during gameplay and unleash a host of intuitive actions.
Bayonetta shows off her new ability to summon a number of creatures to lend a hand in taking down various other giant monsters. Throughout new trailer, there are multiple instances of her using Demon Slave mechanic during battles.
Before closing off, latest Bayonetta 3 trailer briefly teases a mysterious character that seems a lot like Vergil from Devil May Cry. Although it could be a very unexpected crossover cameo but there is no way to be sure until confirmation.
Yusuke Miyata has been lead designer for cancelled Xbox-exclusive game Scalebound and Bayo 3 now shares a similar mechanic. Previously, he also worked as a designer on both Astral Chain and The Wonderful 101 for Platinum Games.
Bayonetta 3 is currently set to arrive next year, exclusively on Nintendo Switch and hopefully, a release date will soon be announced. There is also a possibility for Nintendo releasing the game on PC platform after timed exclusivity expires.
