Only weeks ago, a rating on Australian Classification Board has apparently leaked a release date for upcoming first-person shooter Halo Infinite but developer 343 Industries and publisher Xbox Game Studios had yet to officially announce it.
Microsoft has finally confirmed a set launch window for next mainline Halo game today during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021 showcase. Halo Infinite is scheduled to arrive for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on December 8, 2021.
Microsoft has already hinted at a holiday release for Halo Infinite during E3 press event, back in June 2021. Xbox head Phil Spencer has then revealed that they are simply waiting to avoid any major clash with other AAA-games launch dates.
Halo Infinite will have story and multiplayer at launch but Campaign Co-Op and Forge Mode will unfortunately be delayed. 343 Industries will be delivering these features through post-launch content updates in Season 2 and 3 by next year.

Instead of focusing on Master Chief, today's trailer at Gamescom 2021 shows a new generation of Spartans and Commander Laurette Agryna. She was rescued during Covenant invasion and joined UNSC, only to rise in ranks in a few years.
Infinite promises a free-to-play multiplayer experience at launch, which is a first-ever in series history. 343 Industries is apparently shaping up unique characters and setting storylines just like many other live service game model these days.
Microsoft also announces to launch a Halo Infinite-themed Xbox Elite Series 2 controller as well as Xbox Series X limited edition console. Fans can expect to have it sold out on digital platforms shortly and will shipping on November 15, 2021.
Halo Infinite was originally set to be an Xbox Series X/S launch title but was pushed back a year due to COVID-19 pandemic. However, it seems to be even better than last year as 2021 is 20th anniversary for Halo: Combat Evolved and Xbox.
