About a year ago, upcoming first-person military shooter Halo Infinite was delayed to 2021 by developer 343 Industries and publisher Xbox Game Studios in response to negative feedback, COVID-19 pandemic and multiple other factors.
A newly listed rating on Australian Classification Board has revealed that Xbox-exclusive Forza Horizon 5 is arriving on November 9, 2021. Earlier this month, Halo Infinite received a similar rating confirming a 2021 release window as well.
Halo Infinite got an "M" rating by Australian board since it features violence, online interactivity and in-game purchases. Although classified for a mature audience, there is mention of mild bad language only but no usage of drug, nudity or sex.
Before getting delayed, Halo Infinite was originally scheduled to release alongside Xbox next-gen consoles on November 10, 2020. 343 Industries is currently targeting a late-2021 release window but yet to officially reveal its launch day.
Back in June, Xbox head Phil Spencer talked about why Halo Infinite doesn't have a release date yet despite planning a holiday 2021 launch. He assured that they are still on track for releasing the game this year and are finalizing their timing.
Spencer stated that Microsoft is currently waiting for other AAA-titles to announce their dates, just so to make sure that there is no clash. Xbox wants to pinpoint a solid timeframe instead of having to move it later on nearing close to launch.
Australian Classification Board or ESRB rating usually shows up when a game is closer to its set release date. Halo Infinite being rated only days after Forza Horizon 5 probably means that they both are probably coming out on November 2021.
As a major flagship title for Xbox consoles, Halo Infinite is projected to boost up Xbox Series X/S sales at 2020 launch. However, 343 Industries head Chris Lee decided to postpone its release after massive fan-backlash over campaign reveal.
